Coverage
Do you want all-over hair color with some dimension? Then you’ll need two different colors. It’s important to remember that many of the trends that you love on straight hair may have to be adapted for your hair texture. For all-over dimensional hair color, choose a color that is 2-3 shades lighter than your starting color as the refresher. The second color should be as close to your current color or even one shade darker to add the dimension. If your hair is super porous, it’s best to go lighter with your shade selection or it can look much darker than you want it to.
Sectioning & Application
Your hair should be product free but not freshly clean. Separate your hair into four sections around your head and clip them into place. Using gloves, apply the lighter hair color to hair in each section, making sure to press it through so that it saturates the top and the bottom. This is key to ensure the hair color is seen from every angle of the curl. Repeat until all sections are complete. Next, apply the darker shade from mid-shaft to the ends to add dimension.
Processing
Curly and natural hair textures may take longer to absorb hair color due to its porosity but be careful not to overprocess. Satin’s creamy formulation makes it easy to saturate the hair to penetrate the strands for complete coverage. Process according to directions before rinsing.
After Care
We know it might be hard for some of you but try not to shampoo for 2-3 days after you’ve colored. Use color-safe shampoo and conditioner to help prevent color loss and fading. And if your hair is prone to dryness – colored or not – be sure to use a hydrating conditioner or reparative masque to ensure it remains moisturized and frizz free.
